This month is jam-packed with opportunities in the voluntary sector. Here are upcoming events, vacancies, and funding opportunities to support your growth.

This week also marks Mental Health Awareness Week, a time to consider how we take care of ourselves and others. If you’re looking for mental health support in Perth & Kinross, our local voluntary sector has a range of services and activities on offer.

Following up on your training needs

Thanks to everyone who shared your thoughts in our training survey. We’ll bring forward your priorities as we work  to expand the training available for organisations in Perth & Kinross.

In the meantime, we’re please to offer another round of Understanding Finance for non-finance Managers on 19 June! Back by popular demand, this day-long course will give you an understanding of financial basics to help your organisation thrive.

Employment and voluntary opportunities

We have two local vacancies to share in Perth & Kinross’s voluntary sector:

  • Lead Scotland is looking for a Learning Coordinator for the Perth & Kinross Digital Skills Project, supporting disabled people and carers. Part-time (28 hours), closing 27 May.
  • Sense Scotland is recruiting for a Night Shift Support Practitioner in Perth for those seeking a career in social care. Full-time (37 hours), closing 31 May.

Here are some ways you can make a difference on a voluntary basis:

  • Education Scotland is seeking Lay Members to join their school inspection teams and gather views to improve education and school life in Scotland. Apply by 24 May.
  • The Squeeze is seeking New Trustees to bring expertise and support to their vital mission of providing one-off grants to families who need them most.
  • Be the Change,Perth & Kinross’s local volunteering platform, has new opportunities added daily to meet a range of skills, interests and time commitments.

New funds and approaching deadlines

  • The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival is taking place from 10-27 October. They are offering a Regional Programme Support Fund, with a special interest events in Perth & Kinross. Submit a proposal by 21 May.
  • The Robertson Trust will be restructuring their funding programmes, so be sure to submit your applications for poverty and trauma related projects before 31 May.
  • The Corra Foundation recently announced The Boost Fund, an ongoing programme for small community organisations and groups who support children and families affected by poverty.
    Organisations serving the wider community are also welcome to apply if their service supports families in need (for example, food pantries and village halls).
  • The Clothworkers Foundation accept applications for capital projects, which now includes digital infrastructure.Here’s some guidance on how to apply for these grants and a webinar to support you. You can also determine your eligibility with this quick quiz.
