The webinar is presented by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and gives an overview of the economic picture in Scotland, with a focus on Tayside and Fife, highlighting which sectors have the greatest demand for jobs, where there are skills shortages and where there is likely to be growth in the mid and long term.

Highlights

  • The health and social work, retail and wholesale sectors are expected to remain strong in Tayside and Fife and growth will be seen in care and personal services.
  • Job postings in the region are sitting at a higher level than pre-pandemic.
  • The skills expected to be in strong demand include communication and customer service.
  • Although there is not expected to be significant real growth in job opportunities in the mid term, replacement demand due to an ageing population is expected to be high.
  • A number of initiatives which are being driven by the Tay Cities Deal will focus on skills and employability.
