This Monday marks the start of Volunteers’ Week, the 40th annual celebration of the power of volunteering in the UK. To help you share in joy of volunteering, we’re highlighting seven unique volunteering opportunities in Perth & Kinross that are waiting for the right applicant.

While Volunteers’ Week is a great opportunity to celebrate volunteers who are making a difference, the benefits of volunteering can be felt throughout the calendar year. This includes higher self-esteem, new connections, and a social impact that reverberates in your community.

You can be the…

  • Schools Service Volunteer with NSPCC: Join the UK’s leading children’s charity and deliver Speak Out Stay Safe workshops to children, helping them understand abuse and giving them confidence to speak out. As a Speak Out Stay Safe volunteer you’ll gain new skills as part of a friendly team while making a huge difference to children. With ample training and support, you’ll be invited to deliver two workshops a month in local primary schools. Learn more.

  • Joinery/Woodwork Assistant at Wisecraft in Blairgowrie: If you have DIY or woodworking skills and you’d like to put them to good use, here’s an opportunity to help people build self-confidence and gain skills that support their mental health recovery. In this role, you will develop positive relationships with clients and provide support in using tools and equipment under the direction of the joinery supervisor. Learn more.

  • Delivery and Collections Driver at Broke Not Broken in Kinross: This anti-poverty charity provides vital support to people and families across Kinross-shire. If you have access to a car and would like to support those experiencing poverty across Kinross-shire with kindness and a smile along the way, then this is rewarding opportunity is for you.     Broke Not Broken is also looking for a Parent and Toddler Volunteer to set up toys and chat with parents at a weekly playgroup on Wednesday mornings.

  • Hub Volunteer at Crieff Connexions: This multi-purpose community centre is combatting social isolation and the effects of poverty in Crieff. They are looking for a helper to operate these crucial services, including their community café, low cost food larder, social cafe and uniform shop. Learn more.
