This session of the TSI Knowledge Network brought together Aberlour Children’s Charity and Rewilding Denmarkfield to share insights into the ways their organisations are creating positive change across Perth & Kinross. The session highlighted how different approaches to supporting people, families, and the environment can strengthen communities and improve wellbeing.

Both organisations showcased the value of building resilience through community-focused initiatives. From supporting children, young people, and families with tailored, relationship-based services to restoring natural habitats and creating opportunities for outdoor learning and conservation, the session demonstrated the diverse ways the third sector is helping people and places thrive.

Aberlour Children’s Charity supports children, young people, and families across Scotland by providing a wide range of services designed to help them overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes. Through early intervention, practical assistance, and relationship-based support, Aberlour works alongside families to build resilience, strengthen wellbeing, and create opportunities for children and young people to thrive.

During the session, Aberlour shared an overview of the wide range of support they provide for children, young people, and families across Perth & Kinross and beyond. Their presentation highlighted the importance of early intervention and trauma-informed, relationship-based support, with services tailored to meet the unique needs of each family. Rewilding Denmarkfield

About:

Rewilding Denmarkfield is a community-led rewilding project located between Perth and Luncarty, transforming 91 acres of former farmland into a thriving natural landscape. Through habitat restoration, biodiversity initiatives, and community engagement, the project aims to support nature’s recovery while creating opportunities for people to connect with the outdoors through volunteering, education, and conservation activities.

Highlight – Restoring Nature Through Community Action

During the session, Rewilding Denmarkfield shared an overview of their ongoing rewilding journey and the positive impact the project is having on both wildlife and the local community. The presentation explored how restoring native habitats, encouraging biodiversity, and allowing natural processes to recover can contribute to tackling the ecological and climate crises. Alongside conservation work, the session highlighted the importance of engaging local people through volunteering, outdoor learning, school programmes, and community events, demonstrating how nature recovery can benefit both people and the environment.
