In this TSI Knowledge Network session, we had the pleasure of hosting representatives from Buglife and Support Choices to share insights into their work supporting communities, wellbeing, and inclusion across Scotland. The session provided an opportunity to learn more about the different ways organisations are helping individuals engage with services, environments, and opportunities within their local communities.
Both organisations highlighted approaches centred around accessibility, participation, and improving quality of life. From environmental conservation and nature engagement to personalised support and independent living, the session showcased the broad range of work taking place across the third sector and the positive impact these organisations have within our community.

Buglife
About:
Buglife is a conservation organisation dedicated to protecting invertebrates and the habitats they rely on. Through environmental projects, education, and community engagement, the organisation works to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and support healthier natural environments for both wildlife and people.
Highlight – Community & Environmental Engagement:
During the session, Buglife shared insights into their work promoting biodiversity and encouraging greater community connection with nature. Their projects focus on creating and protecting habitats while supporting public engagement through education, volunteering, and local environmental initiatives. The session highlighted the importance of protecting natural spaces and the role communities can play in supporting local wildlife and sustainability.

Support Choices
About:
Support Choices offers free information, advice, and support to help individuals make informed decisions about their care and support needs. As an independent organisation, they work alongside people to explore the options available to them and help them feel more confident in making choices that are right for their circumstances. Their experienced Community Brokers take a person-centred approach, focusing on what matters most to the individual and helping connect them with appropriate care and support.
Highlight – Independent Advice & Person-Centred Support:
During the session, Support Choices shared insights into their approach to supporting people to navigate care and support services with greater confidence and understanding. Their work highlights the importance of independence, choice, and personalised guidance, ensuring individuals are supported to make informed decisions about their wellbeing and future support arrangements. The session also demonstrated the value of taking time to understand each person’s circumstances and helping them identify support that best meets their needs.
